The 1974 original film known as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is one of the core inspirations behind the slasher genre. Friday the 13th, Saw and modern remakes of Leatherface’s adventures all have Tobe Hooper’s creation to thank. And now, hot off of the success of the asymmetrical horror multiplayer experience Friday the 13th: The Game, Gun Interactive are back. And this time they come with the Texas Chain Saw Massacre on Game Pass, Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
The Mad & Macabre
Back with even more gruesome gore, in fact. Now available on Xbox, PlayStation and PC (with a launch onto Game Pass to boot), The Texas Chain Saw Massacre sees you take on the role of a Slaughter Family member, or one of their unfortunate Victims, in a brand new multiplayer title.Â
Much like Jason Vorhees’ mayhem in Friday the 13th: The Game, this Sumo Nottingham-developed title is an asymmetrical multiplayer game, in which the Victims must use their wits and stealth to escape the horrors, whilst the Slaughter Family must of course hunt them down. Get your hands on a Victim, and expect an incredibly bloody kill to ensue.
There’s four survivors versus three killers; numbers versus strength; brains versus brawn.
Introducing Leatherface!
Each Slaughter Family member boasts an impressive set of abilities, making them viable for different playstyles. Of course, many will immediately want to wield the iconic chain saw of Leatherface himself. However, each of the Cook, the Hitchhiker, Johnny and Sissy possess equally exciting weaponry and strengths.
Similarly, the five playable Victims have a unique ability, and stats in attributes, from Endurance to Stealth. Continual play will see you able to invest into certain skills, beefing your favourite Victim up into a true escapist!
