Are you ready for yet more fun in American cars? I hope you are, as in Forza Horizon 5, the Series continues and we are spending yet more time in the U.S. of A with Series 27 Winter of the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges.
There will be no silly gags this week – we’re going to go all in and just concentrate on suggesting cars and tunes that may help you complete the challenges this week.
Normal service will be resumed soon, I’m sure!
Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – American Muscle
The weekly challenge car this week again gives us a choice of vehicle to take for a spin, as long as it is a Corvette – a car once described by Jeremy Clarkson as “so easy to spin, if you stop for a coffee it will be facing the other way when you come out!”
We can either take the 1995 ZR-1 or the 2009 ZR1, so given that I am a sucker for a pop up headlight, I’m going with the earlier one.
Should you not have one in your garage, the Autoshow can hook you up, for 45,000 and 125,000 credits respectively.
Chapter 1 – New Roads
Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete!
Chapter 2 – Caught on Camera
Earn three stars at Speed Traps in your chosen Corvette. Stock trim should work if you choose a slowish one.
Chapter 3 – Bold Beauty
Now we simply need to paint the body of the car, and be as bold as you dare. I think a nice Hot Wheels purple should look pretty awesome…
Chapter 4 – Ahead of the Pack
We knew it was coming, didn’t we? Now we have to win a road race in the chosen Corvette. Simply pick your best and go nuts!
Emerald Circuit is pretty easy to complete, even in stock trim.
Still do that and this week’s challenge will be done, pushing us five points closer to the reward cars that are in place during Series 27.
Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts
Well, with that bit of fun over with, we are into the main body of the week now, with many races and stunts to try and win at. Are y’all ready? I’m hoping the Corvette didn’t put you off American cars!
Just as aside, it currently feels very slow to load races in Forza Horizon 5 – anyone else having problems?
The Trial – Powerslide
For this series of races, we need to use either a Modern Muscle car, and as always, the answer to the question is a Mustang. I went with the Shelby GT500 from 2013. The share code for mine is : 402868577.
We had great success last week, luckily finding good racers who battered the driverbots easily .Hopefully this will happen again this week!
Should we manage to win two out of three races, a lovely Corvette from 2009 is ours.
Eventlab 1 – SUBIE156 Presents – Marchenhaft Bergpass
Modern Supercars from the USA is the car restriction this time, and the tuning limit is S1 Class 900. Not a massive choice, in fact only one car fits the criteria out of the box!
I went with a stock Lexus LFA from 2010. It just looks the part, despite being designed and made in Japan…
Not sure I can condone tarmacing over an entire volcano, but the resulting track is good fun to drive around. Full marks for this one, flowing and testing all in one package.
The prize for completing this race is a Ford Mustang S5.
Eventlab 2 – UNRIVALED20 Presents Tokyo Bay Drift
For this Eventlab, we need to use a Modern Muscle car tuned to A Class 800 – the same as The Trial! Use the same Shelby to complete this one.
What a great track! It was almost enough to make me wish my Shelby wasn’t AWD, but with a sneaky pull of the handbrake, it was able to slide very well. I really enjoyed this layout, two good ones in a week!.
But there’s a prize on offer for completion – a Super Wheelspin, for a change!
PR Stunt 1 – Speed Zone – Ranchito
This week the tuning limit for these events is B Class 700, and the car has to be a Mustang from 2000. I believe it is called the Fox Body Mustang? Doesn’t look much like a Fox to me…
Anyway, look for Fox as a share name in conjunction with my GT, Red620Ti.
In order to best the seasonal objective, we need to hit the zone at an average speed of over 75 mph, which seems easy enough, right? Apart from the whole dirt surface thing…
We get a Super Wheelspin in return though.
PR Stunt 2 -Drift Zone – East Coast
Same car, some sliding to do – use the same car as above, which I deliberately left RWD only in order to ace this one. Hitting over 120,000 drift points is required.
Another Super Wheelspin awaits.
Seasonal Championship 1 – Can you A Ford it
Good lord, the puns get worse, who would have thought it?
We need to use a Ford that costs over 100,000 credits for these races. The tuning limit is S1 Class 900 and the car I chose was the Ford Racing Puma Forza Edition. The share code for mine is : 146677047.
It takes off like a stabbed rat, and corners like it’s on rails, but it runs out of speed quite quickly. Bit of a challenge for you.
For winning outright solo, or best two out of three in a convoy, we can take home a Ford Escort from ‘73. The same age as me!
Seasonal Championship 2 – Indy-Pendance Day
No sign of either Indiana Jones or Will Smith in this race, just a bunch of Open Wheel Racers tuned to S1 Class 900.
I chose a KTM X-Bow R from 2013, and the share code is : 678935417.
Should we win out, a Ford SD F-450 will be ours to take away
Part 3: Other Challenges
There’s always more to get involved in than just the racing, and that is the case again this week.
There’s the Photo Challenge, and a Treasure Hunt to try. There’s also some Horizon Open Racing, with the best prize to try out. There are even some Seasonal Playground games to try, and a bit of Eliminator. Phew!
Photo Challenge – #TRACKTOY
We need to go to Horizon Mexico circuit this week, take a Dodge Viper SRT10 with us, and take a photo in free roam mode. Simples, right?
See up top for my artistic effort, and below for the location.
The reward? A new piece of clothing, some Farid Rueda Lion Classic Shades. Woop.
Treasure Hunt – Hot Dam
The clue for this hunt reads “Get your Hatch back out and touch the Sierra Verde sky as you fly through the dam”.
The picture shows a Ford Focus 2003, but not much else to be seen.
Basically, as it is Dry Season, there’s a lot less water in the dam, and we need to score an Ultimate Air skill when jumping off the Dam. I actually did it by jumping off the road into the lake bed, so just do some jumps and all should be gravy.
The chest contains 100,000 credits, and the location is shown below.
Horizon Open – Knick Knack Cadillac
Time for some jolly head to head racing and to complete the challenge we need to do it in a Cadillac. Extra kudos for doing this in the stretch limo!
I can’t help with a tune as it could be any class, but it is well worth doing as the prize is awesome.
The prize? It’s only a Farid Rueda Lion Thin Watch. My life is now complete.
The Eliminator – Battle Royale
As I’m sure you know by now, I’m rubbish at this. Simply survive into the Top 30 of players to win a prize.
A Forza Link phrase, “Mwahahaha” is your reward if you do.
Seasonal Playground Games – Patriot Games
We have to play a game this week, and we need to play it in a S1 Class 900, AWD American car.
I chose the Shelby GT500 from 2020, and the share code for mine is : 335181307.
For completing three events (don’t worry, you don’t need to win) the prize is another Forza Link phrase “I’m a Games Master”. Extra points for looking like Patrick Moore…
Part 4: Hot Wheels Events
If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.
Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Zone – The Ribbon
This week, we have to use a Ford Mustang from ‘93, just for a change, although the tuning limit is still B Class 700. And with us needing to hit 120 mph average to win, a little tuning is needed. The share name is SVT with my GT, Red620Ti.
A Super Wheelspin is your reward. Are you still spinning them? I’m not.
Seasonal Championship – Canyonero
We need a car from the Pickups and 4×4 range, and so it is the turn of the Chevy Colorado ZR2 to shine. B Class 700 is the tune limit, and the share code for mine is : 153915151.
Completing the championship will get us a Chevy Camaro 2017.
Part 5: Rally Adventure Events
The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to…
Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Trap – Cascade Fuerte
Same Fox Body, both in terms of tuning level and model, and so the same car is needed, but a bit of speeding to do, with us needing to hit the trap at over 80 mph. Approach from the north for the easiest way to achieve this.
The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Sigh.
Seasonal Championship – Renegade Master
Back once again with the…?
Anyway, this series of races needs a Pickup or 4X4 to take part in it, and the choice of mine is the Chevy Colorado ZR2. The share code is : 153915151. Might as well tune once, eh?
For winning out, we can take away a Jeep CJ5. Awesome.
With Series 27 more than underway, there are some new series of cars to aim at. This time around they are a bit disappointing, with a Cadillac CT-4 for 80 points, and for 160 pts it is a Ford F-150 from ‘86.
If you need a few extra points to get you over the line, the monthly Rivals challenges are here; Bahia de Plano Circuit for proper cars, and Linea Costera Sprint for EVs. Stick some clean laps in and Bob should be the brother of your mother. Although the EV we have to drive is rubbish!
4 points are on offer if you return clean laps for each one, so worth having a go at!
Grab enough points and Series 27 Winter will also see you gifted with the exclusive Lucid Air for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get a Pontiac GTO ‘69, another exclusive car. Nice to get the double!
Stick around if you need guides to the final week of Series 27. We’ll be covering that next week, and then it will be the fun of yet another new Series. Does this treadmill never end?!
To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.
Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
