Remember when the arcades were buzzing? Much of that was due to the on-rails shooter – one of which was the critically acclaimed The House of the Dead. Today it’s that classic which is being revived, as The House of the Dead: Remake bursts onto Xbox, PlayStation, Stadia and PC.
Having very recently found a little home for itself on Nintendo Switch, The House of the Dead: Remake stumbles its way to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Google Stadia and PC via both Steam and GOG.
A game which first released in the musty arcades of 1997, the Remake of The House of the Dead takes everything that gamers loved about that on-rails shooter, before mixing it up with modern day touches – expect a graphical overhaul, a control scheme perfect for the controller and gyro aiming.
This comes with The House of the Dead: Remake promising to continue to stay true to the original, offering up local multiplayer gameplay, multiple endings, a ton of weaponry and even more undead monstrosities than you can shake a limb at.
There’s a new game mode too, as well as the fast-getting-standard Photomode, achievements to chase and a Gallery which will bring the immersion more than ever before.
The House of the Dead is fondly remembered and we are keen to see how the Remake plays out on Xbox Series X|S. Stay tuned for our full review very soon.
In the meantime, you can grab a copy of The House of the Dead: Remake for yourself by visiting the usual digital store of your choice. Our favourite is the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S where you’ll find a £20.99 price tag attached.
You’ll also find The House of the Dead: Remake available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia and PC, through both Steam and GOG. Check out the trailer below too.
