Given that it was -5 degrees when I stepped out of my front door this morning, I feel it is only right that Winter has come to Forza Horizon 5, and according to the hype on social media, this week is all about the GT cars. It was on X, that means it has to be true, right?
We can only hope so as we take a look at the latest Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges found in Forza Horizon 5. And what challenges are they? Those for Series 29 Winter, no less.
So, without further ado, let’s see what Winter has in store for us!
Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – No Substitute
The weekly challenge car for Series 29 – Winter is a Porsche, the 1966 906 Carrera 6, a race car for the road developed, I imagine, to enable Porsche to go racing with the car.
Should you not have one in your garage, then it is available in the Autoshow for a hefty 2,000,000 Credits. It is also on offer in the Forzathon shop, should you have the necessary 700 FP to purchase it.
Chapter 1 – New Year, New Porsche
Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete! Try not to bend it… as only 50 were made in real life! Sounds a lot like last week’s car…
Chapter 2 – Placed by Hand
Can you take a photo? Well, if you can, step 2 is done!
Chapter 3 – Hill Climber
Now simply drive to La Gran Caldera in the Porsche. Should be easy enough, yeah? Well, either I’m not in the right place or this step is bugged, but the game refuses to acknowledge that I’ve driven to the stupid volcano. Please let me know if you suffer the same fate – the comments are below.
Chapter 4 – Tunneling Through
Now we need to win the Tunnel Run street race event to finish the week strong. I hate these races in the tunnels.
Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 29.
Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts
So, with the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer.
At least there are only two Eventlabs in this week’s rotation…
The Trial – Heroes of the Hour
We need a C Class 600 SUV Hero for the races this week, and I went with a Land Rover Defender from 2020. Share code is 155625100.
Hopefully find a bunch of like-minded racers and batter the driverbots, but whatever you end up with, try to have fun. Not like the one guy I had on my team who was slower than me, but when I tried to pass, kept punting me off. Thanks, unknown fellow human!
Should we manage to win out on this mammoth drive, a Maserati Levante will be ours. Makes it all worthwhile.
Eventlab 1 – NOVACRUSH Presents – Horizon Club Circuit (Hot-Hatch)
Guess what cars we need this week? Yes, it is any hot hatch at all, and the class for tuning is B Class 700. I went with a Ford Focus RS from 2009, and the share code is : 111915343.
A nice little circuit with a good mix of fast and slow corners, I quite enjoyed this one. The car class and the track suit each other.
The prize for completing this race is a Super Wheelspin
Eventlab 2 – WRXQW Presents – Estadio GP Circuit (Outside)
The category for this one is Hypercars, and the class is S1 Class 900. Sounds like a job for a Koenigsegg, and I took a stock CCX for spin. Almost literally!
Altogether too many 90 degree bends for such a quick car, but this is not a bad effort.
Take away a Dodge SRT Demon for completing it.
PR Stunt 1 – Danger Sign – Colina
Thank goodness, normal service has been resumed, and the PR Stunts this week all share a common theme – Super GT cars, with a tuning limit of A Class 800.
For a bit of jumping, I chose a Aston Martin DB11 , and the share code is : 723867622.
We need to clear over 313m, which seems like quite a way. Approach from the left as the run up is easier.
We get a Super Wheelspin in return though.
PR Stunt 2 – Speed Trap – Horizon Baja
Speed this time, and luckily the Aston Martin can also pick up its skirts and drive, so same car for this… I like saving pennies.
We have to exceed 88 mph to triumph, so we’ll really need to pedal hard. And try not to time travel!
Another Super Wheelspin awaits.
PR Stunt 3 -Speed Zone – River Run
Same limit, same car I reckon!
The difference is we need to clear over 82 mph average through the zone. This is tricky due to the rivers in the course but just keep swimming! The river is dry, but the Aston doesn’t love the dirt. Tiptoe your way around.
Yet another Super Wheelspin awaits.
Seasonal Championship 1 – Horse-Power to the People
The pun writers are back after the break…
For this event, it is an Unlimited Offroad and Buggies vehicle we need, and with a tuning limit of A Class 800, it is the Jeep Trailcat that gets the nod. Share code for mine is : 118411445. I love this thing!
For winning out, we can take home a Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 which is nice.
Part 3: Other Challenges
There’s always more to get involved in than just the racing, and that is the case again this week with Series 29 – Winter
A treasure hunt returns this week, and we need to take a pretty picture, of course!T here’s also Playground Games and Horizon Tour to have a crack at.
Photo Challenge – #BEACHSAVVY
We have to photograph a Renault in Playa Azul. Extra points for getting a bit of the beach or sea in the pic!
See up top for my artistic effort, and below for the location.
The reward? A new car horn, the “Windows Ta-Da”.
Seasonal Playground Games – Working For or Against
This week we have to complete three rounds of Playground Games, and we have to do it in any S2 Class 998 car. Given these events are largely off road, I went with my BMW X5M FE, and the share code is : 519084427. And we are playing Survival!
Simply do all three rounds, solo or with a crew if you can find one, and you too can be a winner.
Treasure Hunt – Whipping up a Storm
The clue this time reads “Start the Huracan as you drive circles around Mexico!”. The picture is a Lambo Huracan that seems to be drifting, so my bet is that we need to get a few drift skills with the car.
And I’ve have lost my money, as we simply need to do a burnout to complete the hunt! I used the standard Huracan LP-610-4.
The treasure chest contains 250,000 credits, and the location is shown below.
Horizon Tour – Co-op Championships
Time for playing nicely with others now, as we need to complete a Horizon Tour for the big prize. I can’t recommend a tune as it could be any class, but enjoy and then pick up the prize.
Three whole points towards the weekly prizes. I know!
Part 4: Hot Wheels Events
If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.
Seasonal PR Stunt -Speed Trap – Forest Edge
More zooming about in Super GT cars, and so I used the same Aston Martin as above, share code is still :723867622.
We need to hit the trap at over 190 mph for the prize. Approach from the north to get the hill to help.
A Super Wheelspin is your reward.
Seasonal Championship – Wheelie Fun!
We need a B Class 700 Modern Rally car for this championship, and so I chose the Evo VIII MR, with share code : 141172186.
Completing the championship will get us a Subaru WRX’11
Part 5: Rally Adventure Events
The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…
Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Zone – Reservoir View
A bit of average speed driving now, and the same car should do here. Get some use out of the Aston Martin!
We need to average more than 76 mph, and approaching from the left seems easiest.
The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Sigh.
Seasonal Championship – Classic Dunes
We need a Classic Rally car for this race series, and the limit is only C Class 600, so it isn’t going to be fast and furious, is it? I chose a Mini Cooper From 1965.
For winning out, we can take away a Porsche Panamera.
With Series 29 moving into Winter, you should be saving up the points again. The prizes this time are the Nissan GT-R ‘20 for 80 points, and a Porsche 911 GT3 ‘21 for 160.
If you need a few extra points to get you over the line, the monthly Rivals challenges are here; and there are a total of four to have a crack at this week – two proper events and two EV ones. Horizon Mexico Circuit and Playa Azul Circuit cover the options for the real engines, and Arch of Mulege Circuit and Emerald Circuit are in place for the EVs. Four points of offer for each, so get lapping!
Grab enough points and Series 29 Winter also sees you given access to the exclusive Pagani Huayra for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get an exclusive Mercedes Benz 280 SL. Two exclusives this week!
Next up will be Spring, and we can only hope that the temperature outside will pay attention! And then, after that, a whole other new Series to look forward to…
To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.
Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
Luckily when I restarted the game, it told me I done the volcano stage and just had to win the race. I guess they fixed it!
Have to drive into the middle of the volcano, that’s what triggered it for me (it’s currently an ice lake it appears, since it’s Winter season).
Hi!
No issues with the volcano, it did not even erupt 🙂
I’m on PC – maybe a platform issue…
Same issue, must be a problem with everyone. hopefully, they fix it in the next few days
I not get passed volcano at Porsche 906 when I Drive on volcano but when I reset game, I have passed this.
The game also has refused to give me the reward for driving to the caldera.
Glad it’s not just me!
